11 Scientific Health Benefits of Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil is my #1 favorite ingredient for All Natural Holistic Beauty / Self-Care. It has deeper health benefits than we could imagine. Scientists have researched coconut oil for thousands of years and keep finding not only more ways it can be used but more benefits to our health. Adding it to your diet enhances your overall health & can even lower cholesterol. Whether it is used internally or externally it enhances your appearance as well!

A Lil' Bit of History

Alexander P Ashbourne was the inventor of Coconut oil, he discovered it in 1877. Before World War II, it was the main edible oil, and continued to be after the war was over. That was until the Vegetable oil producers started advertising that it was bad for your health so more people would buy their product. Dr. Weston A. Price in the 1930's discovered the benefits in his travels to various islands. Price was a Dentist & Nutritionist who researched the differences between Native & Urban diets and how they effected our health. The discovery that changed the direction of coconut oil into what we know it to be today. Natives that consumed over 60% coconut had better overall health and low rates of Heart Disease even though it had high levels of fat. 

11 Health Benefits of Coconut Oil 

      1. Anti-Bacterial :

Lauric Acid is a component within Coconut Oil which effectively kills Fungi, Bacteria & Viruses, therefor preventing external infection. Monolaurin is also found in coconut oil and is proven to be more effective at killing pathogens then Lauric Acid. With all those great compounds working to kill off all the "bad stuff", Coconut oil is critical for destroying Candida Albicans, which  leads to yeast infection.
